Born in Paris Stéphane Gizard discovers camera at seven years old. After communication’s studies and a short passage in Prépa Art, he started to work when he was twenty years old, for the services photographs of several magazines. He collaborates quickly with news agencies like the famous Sygma or Sipa. He carries out in particular portraits of personalities like Christophe Walken or Peter Falk, stereotypes diffused with the international level.

At the age of 23, he completes his first personal work ” Boys and Girl”…, series of portraits introducing 35 boys and a girl, all coming from the street, which proposes a reflection on sexual ambiguity with adolescence. With this work, wild casting, chance of the meetings, the portraits unknown become an obviousness which will be declined often thereafter. These photographs are exposed in 1998 in Paris, in the American center then with Valencians, the meetings of the cinema, thus in Cholet.

The same year, it becomes stimulating photo workshops with UNESCO of Paris and in two schools, with Madrid and London, within the framework of association Childrens Academy one Turn. Its work is then supported by the European Community.



He imagines Dress code in 2006. For that, he photographs 200 teenagers in their personal look. It' s acts of portraits, carried out in studio, after 8 months of casting of street, without any designer. Design of the first shutter. Dress codes Paris complete in July 2007. First distributed as a travelling exhibition (Maison de Solenn in October, Point Éphémère in November), the collection is exhibited at the Citadium-Printemps store (Paris IX), a place of exchange and discovery dedicated to Street Culture. This first collection of the artist is now exhibited internationally (Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan).

Since then Stéphane has continued his personal work as "Addiction" in 2009, a diary photographed with an iphone and "I twenty years ago in 2010", a work on the passing of time. He also continues to produce images for advertising (Labello, Dove, Road Safety, Bonobo, Nutella...) and magazines such as Le Monde magazine, Be, Figaro or Studio Cinélive.

For 20 years now, he has been photographing an age group (16/20 years old) which, in his opinion, is the decisive stage between the end of adolescence and the beginning of adulthood. Time for self-seeking and fragility.
